Remark:
The first time in the history of the Olympic Movement, the Games were held in Australia, in the country's "Queen City", Melbourne. Peter Whitchurch's official film focuses on a selection of events, particularly the men's 1,500m track final. It also focuses on the athletes themselves, who come from 67 countries and interact in the Olympic Village, with about two hundred chefs who are in charge of serving the different types of diet. The Hungarian team attended the event, despite the tragic uprisings that had taken place in Budapest only a few months earlier. The opening ceremony featured the participation of several choirs and a speech by the Archbishop of Melbourne. 1956 , 60' minutes
