Remark: The Nike Zvezdochka was a Nike collaboration with the Australian designer Marc Newson originally released in 2004. The unique build was a manufacturing revolution for Nike and helped pave the way for other breakthroughs in customization and sustainability. It is a modular shoe consisting of four interchangeable parts: an injection-moulded perforated cage, interlocking outsole, inner sleeve, and insole.
The design was conceived from Marc Newson’s fascination with space travel and the rigorous exercise required of cosmonauts in the depths of outer space. This inspiration also led to model’s name Zvezdochka, after the Russian space dog launched into orbit aboard the Sputnik 10 in 1961.
